Martine Parode, LCPC
Martine Parode is a psychotherapist who specializes in working with teenagers and young adults with anxiety and mood disorders as well as trauma and stress. Martine’s therapeutic work emphasizes client autonomy and agency in the therapy process. She is trained to meet clients where they are, using a person-centered and strengths-based philosophy to guide treatment. Each therapy experience is unique to the client’s needs, and Martine teaches clients to process and cope with their symptoms using a variety of therapeutic methods. She is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Plus (CBT+). Martine has a special clinical interest in challenges related to sport performance and dysautonomia.
Martine describes her approach to treatment:
“I believe therapy is a deeply individualized experience. As such, I tell each client—and by extension, each family—that they are the one who is ‘driving’ the therapy process, while I as the clinician act as the GPS, providing directions when necessary and adjusting my guidance to meet the needs of my clients. I also believe it is critical to work with my clients’ families during the therapeutic process to support the at-home aspects of therapy. In family work, I aim to educate and contextualize clients’ symptoms and experiences for families to build understanding, empathy, and cooperation between family members as they support clients’ treatment goals. While I may be an expert in the clinical aspects of therapy, clients are the experts on their individual experiences, and it is important to me that clients feel their experiences are honored and respected during the therapy process.”
